Matte Black Rickenbacker 4003

Rickenbacker discontinued that finish a few years ago unfortunately. The next closest finish is Jetglo, which is their normal high gloss black finish.
Right. They made lots of them, so it doesn't seem possible that I wouldn't be able to find ANY online.
Sweetwater had some that were called "Pearlglo", kind of the same (for $3700
) But no Matte Black.
Any suggestions on finding one?

I don't think they made lots of them. It wasn't a very popular finish, IIRC.
Buy one (any color) and have it refinished. I have a friend who bought a Jet Glo and had it painted turquoise. Not something I would do, but hey, different strokes….
I saw a few out in the wild and they looked great! And I’m not generally a ‘black bass’ kinda guy
Get a Jetglo and wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper? That would make it matte black........ maybe not
Plus, when you start playing it and where your forearm lays on the body and where you place your thumb those spots will start to wear the matte finish and probably start getting shinier for lack of a better word, and I think that would look really weird. And I agree about the fingerprints, even though the high gloss shows them very well, too.
They will only be used now, no current production. Saw one for sale recently. They come up every now and then. But they are highly variable on price and the matte 4003s seems more common than the 4003.

I have a 2019 matte 4003. I absolutely love it. It's also getting very shiny in a few spots. I would have preferred a jetglo but I couldn't pass this up for less than $1500.
There’s a matte 4003S on Reverb for $3,269 + $300 shipping. Seems steeper than I’d like to see, but I don’t need/want one of these rare birds.
