There is a listing in my local paper for a mint ibanez artcore 4 string bass. Has new hammon engineering dark star pick up. Selling for $350. Is it worth it and how do they sound and play?

The pickup alone is worth 200 bucks , the Artcore is a very nice bass for the money I'd jump on it!

I've never played an Artcore for more than a few minutes at a GC, but I am familiar with the Dark Star. The pup sounds HUGE, open, and defined. It's really an amazing pup. For that price, it's definitely worth it.

I've got an older 34" with a Darkstar.
It's my #1, beating out my Ric4003 and my '95 Stingray, among others.

The Artcores are real gems for the money... Super well built, feel real nice and sound great (even my older one w/ the mini-hb pickup), I can imagine the Darkstar would sound even better.
