Maynard screws up

Uhm... since this thread has a topic that doesn't really have much direction as far as discussion goes. I think I've finally made my peace with Tool... final thoughts...

- I'll be damned if I'll pay $18 for a Tool CD
- They are somewhat bland and are repeating the same 3 song formulas over and over... but so is AC/DC... and look where it got them.
- Tool fans (mostly the fratboy ones) are what bother me. They are in my opinion not worthy of worship. But then again, most Tool fanatics don't get King Crimson either.
- Tool is music that is just complex/strange enough for someone who likes pretty standard rock/metal to say they like strange/complex music.
- Danny Carey vs. Dana Carvey... I want to see it dammit!

Next time someone offers to burn me a copy of a Tool CD. I think I'll take it... and I'll listen to it... sometimes.

:eyebrow: Wow... this thread turned bad pretty quick... I don't think posting a somewhat hillarious video about a lead singer screwing up is in anyway portraying someones thoughts that tool is the best band in the world, or not. Cmon now.... Latimour, Abark, Nick, geshel, Brendan... thousands of posts or 0... surely the thread wasn't deserving of your attempts to instigate some sort of argument (or, whatever the hell you were trying to do  )... Its not like IM trying to instigate an argument, and I hope you don't hate me for saying, it's just bemusing how you took a simple thread, posted for a laugh... in some completely random direction.

It's not like, by posting a thread of Maynard screwing up, it has ANYTHING to do with Tool... let me finish.... case in point: The thread "The "man we`re cool and have long arms"-performance -can it get any worse?"... We were laughing at the band's ineptitude... just like in this thread we were laughing at Maynard's ineptitude, I don't see how where I saw a simple funny (hillarious) moment, you guys saw someone saying Tool are the greatest band in the world and we should all be very concerned about their mistakes because it is shocking news which will possibly change our lives forever... .. um what, I don't think thats what the thread was about...

Final note: I also don't see the value in nitpicking someones post for grammar and spelling... All but the extremely mentally challenged can deduce what a post means (without great difficulty)... someone like VinceLovesF doesn't have a complete grasp of the syntax of English language ... and who expects him to, the dude is French... but do you ever correct him? No, theres no need, you knew what he was saying... it just seems to me, that certain people (not all) use the whole pretence of correcting someones spelling and grammar in a very demeaning way... as if to insult them...

end rant *sends new enemies flowers, chocolates and pacifiers*
:hiding:

edit: change Valenti to Nick... sorry :D

Well... Tool is a good band. (and I know that this thread isn't about that debate) And it is obvious that there is a King Crimson and Rush influence in them.(to a musician) And alot of thier fans don't know why they are so awesome

And if you posted a vid of some other singer taking a hissy fit on stage after ****ing up I would be equally entertained.

But I am is much more satisfied watching a person of Maynards stature and ego break down like that.

What? I posted what I thought of the clip. Meh, as in, "who cares." I own all their albums and I think for a mainstream rock band they are pretty decent. Better than the majority of the fluff on the airwaves.

I wasn't trying to start an argument and I generally don't get on the grammar correction tip, but when a single post is nigh on illegible I draw the line. "U" and "Ur" save absolutely no time in grand scheme of things. No cares about how fast you write posts anyway, take the extra four seconds and make sure your post is halfway correct.

Oh right... sorry to Valenti... that was a major screw up  ...

But who are you to judge the merit of the thread? You are saying its not worthy of a thread because you STILL think its a thread about how we are all so shocked about how Maynard screwed up... IT IS SO NOT THAT.... its just posted for a laugh, and yes, its funny... if you dont think so, well, no one cares if you don't think so... The original poster thought some people might get a laugh out of it, and decided to share it with us... thats merit enough for me

but what do I know :hmm:

yea... i'm not trying to start anything... I just needed to vent somethings that were bothering me... how does debating the merit of a thread, within a thread have merit to provide to the thread itself anyway... :p LOL...

Anyway, sorry to anyone who cares about what I said...

I've been meaning to find a chance to post this: Ashley Simpson was NOT lip syncing!!!! And yes, it was her band's fault. I watched SNL, they reran that episode. What happened is somebody (once again, probably the drummer) triggered the wrong BACKUP TRACK! Her singing on the first song that went off without a hitch wasn't good enough to be lip syncing. What she does is what every singer seems to do now... harmony vocal tracks. Her harmony track was the wrong song... and the band decided... hey lets do that song again?! It's not really the band's fault as she stated. But she wasn't lip syncing, it was the backup track. It just makes it so her backup singers are the ones who screwed up.

P.S. I'm drunk.. so don't make fun of my grammer/spelling too. :hiding:

At the risk of completing the hijack of the Maynard thread...

I saw the SNL thing, and I agree with you 100%

Where the screw-up came, was in her manager/father's "explanation", which only made things far worse - it sounded like a lame excuse, and may have just about torpedo'ed the poor girl's career. Is she some musical genius? No. But she's far more real than her sister, whom she must forever live in the shadow of - for that she gets my respect.

Dad needs to bow out, and let the girl get a real publicist.
