Never gigged Mayones Jabba 4 string. I’ve had it for a year and it absolutely kills. The only reason I am selling it is because I got the opportunity to purchase a Skjold and I need funds for that.

Just had a brand new set of Aguilar
AG 4J-HC pickups put in last month. They are hum canceling and sound great. The original single coil Aguilar pickups are included in the sale. You can flip them or reinstall them.

There is no case included. I will include a quality gig bag and a leather strap. The bass will be packed professionally and shipped with insurance via FedEx.

It should be noted this is a 2015 instrument. The site link is for the 2018 model. FYI. It is currently strung with Thomastik Infeld rounds ($$$). Thanks.

Nut width?
They changed it sometime ago to narrower. Which is yours?

I really need to sell this to pay for another bass... I’ll drop it another $100... so for $1,600 you get an amazing bass, brand new Aguilar hum canceling pickups, the original Aguilar single coil pickups, gig bag and leather strap... and I pay shipping ! Holy cow, what a deal.

I just moved and don’t have a scale for exact weight. I’ll have to weigh it tomorrow somewhere. From what I remember it’s about 9.5 lbs... get back to you ASAP.

Hmm. Ok, thanks. It's a little heavier than I thought it would be. How are the frets? Any wear? Also, when you say the new hum cancelling pickups made it sound darker - by how much. I've listened to a video from Aguilar where they compare their various jazz pickups, and the AJ-70 (which I think is what the originals are) and AJ-HC sound nearly identical. So I'm surprised that the HCs would have changed the tone significantly. Curious to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!!!
Joe

Hi Joe,
As far as the weight goes, bear in mind it was from a bathroom scale, not a professional scale by any means...It might be a tad heavier than a standard J because there are 24 frets and the active/passive guts. Honestly I don't notice any added weight and I have a bad lower back so I'm sensitive to weight. I do use a high quality, padded strap though. The frets are in excellent condition. I received this bass about 10 months ago. It has never been gigged. I only practice on it and take excellent care of it. I'm 44 years old and a hobbyist. I treat my instruments as pieces of working art. I know what video you're referring to. They do sound nearly identical. I recorded a line with the originals, had them swapped by a professional luthier and then recorded the same line, same settings, etc. I play through the Aguilar TH500 and two SL112's. Maybe it was the lack of that 60 cycle hum, don't know. It was just clearer, more present. Maybe darker was the wrong adjective to use. Describing music and tones with words is impossible. But it didn't change significantly at all. Remember, the originals are included. Tell you what, you can give the instrument a test drive for a week or so...if you don't like it send it back for a full refund. I want to keep this bass but with the Skjold purchase I have to recoup some of my money...buy one, sell one, lol.

I thought this was a fair price for this instrument and the upgrade. I thought there would be more interest in it. Anyone care to weigh in? Maybe I missed something...

On the contrary, this looks to be an exceptional bass and the price is market appropriate. There seems to have been some interest, according to the thread. I marvel at the beauty of it. I would make an offer, except I recently commissioned Marco Cortes to build me another bass. That, and no one local has a Mayones for me to try, to see whether it "fits". Be patient. This great bass will find a buyer.
