i believe there ARE preamps in the XLR Ins and there are NOT preamps in the 1/4 Line In. Also the line leve is balanced in the XLR in's, and unbalanced in the 1/4 line ins.
There are 3 jacks (XLR, 1/4" DI, and 1/4" Line (TRS)) on each input...
So, there are preamps in the XLR and DI (1/4") inputs, but not the Line (TRS) (1/4") input? So if I plug an bass into the DI it should be hotter than plugging it into the Line (TRS) input? What's the Line input for?
The line in would be for hooking up an external preamp or other external device that ouputs a balanced signal on a 1/4" jack. This way you're not running a signal through a second preamp.
