Double Bass me on myspace

Sounds really nice man, I can really hear a Bill Evans/Eddie Gomez influence between you and the pianist. The only weak point I found was the drumming, felt a little weak to me. Your solo was good, could have used a little more melodic content and rhythmic variety, but overall I liked it. Good work man.

"what bass are you using?"

thanks for the kind words. The bass is a Stentor Conservetoire, but was a lucky find as I have played other 'identical' models that didn't sound half as nice. It has innovation 140Hs on it, and a nice new bridge and soundpost.

" IP.S. Dave Holland's solo on Heyoke was one of the first solos I ever transcribed on the bass... it was such an eye opener for me!"

I've never transcribed it exactly, but listened to it a lot and worked out little bits.. I agree, its a beautiful solo.

>did i hear a john taylor quote at the start of how deep?

yep, the whole performance was influenced by his take on HDitO on the trio record with Marc Johnson and Joey Baron.

>how did you record it?

the drummer is involved with a studio and we borrowed their mikes, computer, mixing desk etc and used a room in a school where the trumpeter teaches which had a nice acoustic and a grand piano.
