Measuring Neck Profile?

I have a question about my 79 Fender P Bass. It has a Maple board with a skunk stripe. I've read some posts that talk about different Fender neck profiles like A, B, C, along with some measurements like 1 5/8" etc.

I'd like to find out which neck I have. My question is where is this measured and what measurements go with which neck profiles (A, B, etc.)?

measure the width of the neck at the nut, the three different necks measure A - 1 3/4", B - 1 5/8", and C - 1 1/2".

By those measurements, I have a B profile neck at 1 5/8".
