Double Bass Mendelssohn Elijah / Elias

I have signed up to play Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah next month. Rehearsals starts in two weeks.

I guess the overture will be a blast to play. It sounds fun, and looks nice on the page. On the other hand, a few passages in later movements seem to be well-nigh impossible to play at the marked tempos.

Has any one played it? Any experience to share?

I've played it. It's all playable.

I know there is at least one movement that is very challenging depending on tempo, but the overwhelming majority is playable with practice. It's not one you can sleep through...
