I have an idea that it might be because Im gained up too high, just below distortion.. that might cause the problem. Must try it next time i get to haul my rig to rehearsal, got my car stolen the day before yesterday.. it really sucks!

TIMV, i saw you post on tube prices. i dont know if this has been mentioned before but if you order mesa tubes direct from them in california, they give you a whole set of either twelve 6L6 or 5881, which also includes four preamp tubes, for 25% off list for a total of 210.net + ship. i priced out twelve sovtek 6L6's for a total of 11.95 ea and with four preamp 12AX7's it came to 182.20 net+ship. maybe you can get the sovteks cheaper, i dont know, but for the difference of 27.80 ill take the boogies. i happen to have their phone # here on my desk, its 1-707-778-6565, ask for Tien Lawrence, you may have to leave a message but he does get back to you. good luck any better deals...let me know.....jim
