Mesa 800W head to Ampeg 500W cab

Right now I'm running the mesa m3 carbine head into my ampeg 500W 4x10 cab. I'd like a little more volume can I run the mesa 800W head through my ampeg?

Do you have a 4 ohm 410HLF or an 8 ohm 410E or some other 4x10?

If your current cab is 8 ohms, I'd recommend adding another 8 ohm cab and run the Mesa you have at 4 ohms.

You can run a Mesa D800 with a 2 ohm load. Thus, adding a 4 ohm cabinet identical to the one you already have will work.

Which 4 ohm ampeg 410 do you have?

Do you have a large vehicle and a handtuck or dolly for moving your rig?

I have the SVT 410HLF. I'm not interested in running another cab for now just curious if I could get a more powerful amp.

Yes, but you will want to use a little bit of common sense and good judgement because if you were to hammer the amp you could end up with damaged drivers.

Here's a safer alternative however... set your amp into 2 ohm mode, this will limit the power when driving a 4 ohm load to about 600 watts which will be safer.
