Mesa Boogie 2x15

Hi
I have just got myself an old Mesa Boogie 2x15 cab.

Problem is that i dont know what cab it is, and therefore i dont know the specs.
I cannot find anything at Mesa's homepage and also google gives no results. Can anyone help me with a link or information.

I am quite sure it is an old Diesel RR 2x15

It looks like an old Diesel, but not a Road Ready... IIRC, those were made in 400watt and 800watt configurations, and were 4ohms - but with older cabs, it's not uncommon for the drivers be get changed or reconed... I'd check the impedence with a multimeter - although resistance isn't the same as impedence, it's a safe bet that if the resistance is greater than 4 ohms it's probably an 8 ohm cab - 4 ohms or less resistance will be a 4 ohm cab...

FWIW, those are really good cabs - and a rock standard for good reason...

Great cab indeed, I just picked myself up a earlier model Mesa PowerHouse 215 cab that has the EV speakers in it. How does it sound/how is the tone with that Hartke amp? I have actually been eyeing a HA3500.

i've got one of the road ready cabs with Ev's in it
sounds good with any head i've ever played through it, been thinking about selling it but i kinda like just keeping it around in case i do ever decide to use it again...

The Mesa Cab sounds good and deep. By that i mean, there is a lot of sub and mid range. Maybe a little thin in the top range. But then again i do not slap and plug, so for a fat solid rock'n'roll sound i got everything i have dreamed about with that cab.

The Hartke top is a working horse. Solid and delivers every time. The eq is great for shaping your sound. The pre-amp runs with either tube or transistor, or you can mix them. A lot of possibilities and totally good sound.
It is more than value for the money.
I would recommend it everytime (though i have not compared it with high end amps yet)

I have an '86 Diesel 2x15. These were great sounding cabs with beautiful tonal character from those EV15L drivers.
The standard rating was 400w from two 200w drivers, or optional 800w from two 400w drivers. And the standard impedance was 4ohm, although 8ohm was optional but kinda rare.
judging by the old flat name plate and old style handles yours looks like an 80's cab to me.

I've been looking for one of those cabs for a while now. I've found a couple solo 15 diesel cabs, but not any 215's yet.

They pop up on CL kind of regularly. I think the last one was about two months ago was in West Seattle.
I remember another earlier this summer, one dude had two of them for sale. He had one crappy pic of his pair, and he used one of my pics from here on TB. :eyebrow:

I just sold a RR 2x15. Really nice cab, great sound but very heavy. I do have one freshly reconed EVM 15L that I might let go of as I don't have a current need for it.
I still have the 1x18 diesel cab loaded with an EV 18. It has more highs than it has any right to, and a killer low end.

It's an 80's Diesel 2x15 but it lacks the road ready casing.

I picked up a Diesel 2x15 like this from GC a few months ago for my Bass 400. $379 and they charged me only $14 to ship from Buffalo NY to Charlotte NC!! These are killer cabs. You can run both 15s @ 4 ohm together or run each at 8 ohms w/2 cables. Moving them you'd think they were made of concrete.

I'll never forgive myself for selling my Roadready 2x15 a few years ago. It was pristine and sounded amazing. Found it in Nashville for $300.

Only issue I had was: despite it being the 800 watt model with the two 400 watt EVM-15L speakers, my SVT blew both speakers.

Had one, played it for years then sold it to get something lighter. I loved the tone for Rock and Blues. Not so great for funk or jazz but passable. I wanted it to handle more power and get deeper. Not much below 100 hz. Those EVs kick out the jams though.

I swore off 215s several back problems ago. But playing a pair of 115s has always come close enough. I've got a Road Ready 15 (Kappalite 3015LF) and a newer PH 115 on top. I get endless compliments on that sound (with an MPulse or Carbine).
