Mesa Boogie

all mesa prices are the same evrywhere. mesa's law.

The V-12 costs about $1700 and that's the most expensive amp they have.
About $1600 for a 400+
About $1500 for the MPulse 600 and BB750
Walkabout 12 is $1199
Walkabout 15 is $1299

This is my delima. GK2001 for around $1200 or the Rack Titan V12 for $1600.00. Other than the Titan has two completly unique channels why should I pay the extra $400.00 for the Mesa over the GK? Here in Northern Nevada there's not even a shop that sells Mesa so I can not check it out before I lay the $$$ down, whereas the GK is probably sold at a couple different stores in town. But does that speak for "mass production" vs. "hand made"? If times ever get worse the resale for the Titan may hold a longer value than that of the GK. I started a thread earlier and it seemed like there were many happy GK customers out there. I'm still leaning Mesa but I do question my thinking. I'm not made of $$$ so $400 saved is great, but at the expense of a "lesser" amp, I think "not". Please any information on this subject is greatly appreciated!

BOTH GREAT COMPANIES.

I SAY GO WITH THE GK. I LOVE MESA BUT THEY ARE HARD TO TRY IN STORE IN CERTAIN AREAS.

I say whetever you do get a used one. Seems to me like it's the only way to go. You can allways trade or sell a used piece of gear that you picked up for a good deal without taking it in the shorts. And there's a lot of that that goes on here. Seems like when you buy something new it imediately looses 20% of it's value when you walk it out the music stores door. My last two basses and my last head (a mesa boogie 400+ that I traded a GK for on this site) I got that way. Saved tons of money and I can turn around and wheel and deal with them if need be.

It's seems a tough spot for you, not being able to check the Mesa in person. I will say, the 2 amps sound nothing alike. While the GK is a solid amp with some great tone, the Mesa would kill it, imo. If you want your bass tone to have some gnarly teeth, the Titan rules. It's 2 channels, but they have different voicing for each, so it's kinda like 4 channels, and the eq is spot on. Sorry, it's my next head, so I seem to be trying to sell it to me, as well as you. Really, they're both awesome. Screw it, let's both go out and get the GK's.
