Mesa Powerhouse 610 vs Subway 215

I am looking for opinions comparing these two cabs.

Someone is interested in trading their Subway 215 cab for my Powerhouse 610 cab. I LOVE the tone of my cab but do t love the weight, which is why I am considering the trade. I've played many Subway cabs (including the 115) but much prefer the PH610 to any of them. I've had 2 210 Subway cabs and preferred the tone of them to just one 210. I am curious if the 215 will have a similar result. Not concerned about volume as it is all way more than I need. I am curious of the tonal quality differences… which can does what well or not well.

For reference I play a Ricky 4003 (bridge PU only) and typically use my (new to me) Mesa Bass 400+ though I also have an Ashdown Little Bastard that I use sometimes. I like a slightly overdriven upper mid tone (read: Squire/Lee)

You really would need to tryout the 215 to be sure

Are they nearby? I would try to A/B the two cabs with your bass and head.

I had a 4x12 Mesa PH and it was amazing and heavy. I'd say the 2x15 subway would be a better choice from the weight perspective alone.

PH cabs are much more in your face and present in the mids than the Subway cabs, which have a bigger bottom and flatter response overall. While you can get the Subway into the PH neighborhood through eq, it won't be exactly the same feel. If the PH gank/tone is critical to your sound, you may not be satisfied with the SW.

I have owned two Mesa PH610's and foolishly sold them both on here.
I also had a Mesa subway 215 that I sold on here.
Both are fantastic cabinets and I did not have them at the same time so I could not give you a side-by-side review but I will tell you that if Weight is a concern for you, I would definitely grab the Subway 215 …there was nothing I did not like about it!
Just my personal experience, I was able to get my tone no problem

I've never owned the 215 or the 610, however I have owned the SW115 and PH410s.

The SW cabs are generally a lot more mid forward and articulate than the PH cabs, however the PH cabs are more aggressive, and as an aggressive player I prefer the way they clank.

Both are great, which is better depends on your priorities.

The aggressive mids and clank of the PH is both their strength and weakness. If that's your tone it's hard to beat, but if not then it's hard to escape.
