Mesa Subway 1x15 Tweeter

Does anyone else find the tweeter on the Subway 1x15 cab (probably the same for all the Subway series) to be a bit harsh? I've been doing a fair amount of practicing under headphones recently to be considerate to family members working from home. When I go back through the cab I'm immediately struck by how strident the top end sounds.

Yeah, I've been messing around with turning down the top end at the amp and the cab, trying to find a balance. Tricky to "sweeten" the highs without deadening the sound. -2dB at the cab with a tiny bit rolled off at the amp seems to be better.

There are many variables to consider and work with. Your position relative to the speaker also factors into the perception.

What type of bass and the type of head(as you mentioned) as well as the settings on either can also factor into this. I have a Fender Jazz that needs the tweeter off, a Pre that needs it about 9 o'clock, and a Hofner violin that needs it at noon.
Treble and high mids settings and any HPF on the head (if available) also comes into play. But no , I don't think strident would be a description I'd use regarding them. I hope you can work it out . Best of luck
