Mesa Walkabout vs. M6 Carbine 2x12" combo

All I can say is that I don't think you'll find a louder 12 combo. Even though the 8 Ohm version pumps "only" about 175 watts, according to Bill FitzM pretty much any 12 will max out around there anyway, and the 8 is nice because it'll balance well with your Berg 12. Whether the single 12 will be enough for your gigs only experience can say. I've met guys who use only a WA 12 combo for virtually everything, but in my band there is no single 12 that will satisfy.

I dunno man, i get alot of compliments on the Bal/pre out of my V4BH. I've only played mine so I can't say if I've got a special one or not. But, the pre on mine is magical! Not to mention, the sound with the NV610......;) Which, the WA head would be great with I'm sure. Haven't found a head yet that wasn't.
That being said, I have played a WA Scout 12 at GC and whoever said it was almost 3D, described it well. Because that is exactly what I thought too. That would probably be the only thing I would think about selling the V4BH for.

Yep KNOW what U mean!!! I really don't wanna see the V4BH go But as I say- the YBA200 just DOES IT ALL!!!!! Has that extra headroom, can pretty much sound identical to the V4BH & is about the same weight. AND has options like PRE/POST DI, Ground lift on it too. A few other bells & whistles I DONT need or use, but- it DOES it!!! So.... hard decision. But when it boils down the V4BH is getting the LEAST work outta my SVTII, YBA200, LMII.
I'd LIKE to keep the LMII as a back up for virtually EVERY gig-as it's SO portable/powerful & plain sounds good!!! But... that MAY go instead of the V4- dunno yet. The YBA200 is a keeper as it's such a great weight/sound & versatile. The SVTII is just- well - SUPERB!!!!! Just makes ANYTHING sound great!!! But at 70lbs, & 300 tube Watts, & 4 ohms max It is a LOT too much for my Jazz/blues gig-where I usually take just the LMII > AE112. But It'll be nice to take WA combo to that & maybe pair the head with the NV215 sometimes too!!!
My '77 Gibson G3 aint getting much go either -so........ ????

I loved my V4BH more than a guy should love any piece of electronic equipment, but when push came to shove, I let it go. I had too many amps, and it came down to either the V4BH, or the Walkabout. You know already which one won that battle, and I still have no regrets.

DAMNIT!!!!!! I'm the same!!!!! Such a Bugger of a decision. I too LOVE the V4BH. LOVE it!!! But, As I said, the YBA200 does it all really, It'd ALMOST take my SVTII also- but thats just.... SO SO SO NICE. & as I get older, the weight issue DOES come into play. I work 4 days a week day job, then gig 2 or 3 times/week & believe this gig tonite-we do every Sunday eve(6-9pm)- will & Does get the LMII 90% of the time. It's a relaxed gig... the V4 does sound great there, but so does the LMII. So I'm hoping the Mesa WA Scout combo will too, AND make things even easier-it being a combo 'n all.
But, yes VERY sad to be saying BYE to the V4BH. VERY!!!!

Hi again, Just a quick question to WA owners. The WA I'm probly getting has the 2 input's 'passive' & 'active'.
Would it be OK to plug 2 instruments- a passive Precision into the passive input & an Active EUB into the active - in at the same time??
Obviously I'd ONLY be PLAYING ONE bass at a time...... :-)
Any harm in this d'ya think?? I think not But want to ask WA owners their opinions.

EDIT:- Due to a LOTTA personal hassles at the mo' I hadda put on hold the Mesa WA. STill wanna know as much as poss re. Such as the Question above. But -THANKFULLY!!!!- the seller of the combo has agreed to let me pay it off -slowly, at least for a while. So THATS FANTASTIC!!!! Means I'll still grab it, but after the dust settles here.

Would it be OK to plug 2 instruments- a passive Precision into the passive input & an Active EUB into the active - in at the same time??
Obviously I'd ONLY be PLAYING ONE bass at a time...... :-)

I can only speak from the experience of owning an M6 head and running it through my Acme 4x10 and then comparing it to my 12" Walkabout Scout. I much prefer the walkabout - more tubey goodness, gets loud enough for me at 300W (but I almost always have PA support). To me, the M6 was more sterile, glassy hi sounding. The tube in the M6 to me didn't make much difference. Just wasn't my sound.

i own the m6 carbine 2x12 combo. it is very loud, very deep sounding... its also very large and very heavy.

as awesome as it is, it was just too much amp for me to handle. i have it sitting in the mesa boogie store in hollywood for sale and will probably go for the m6 carbine head and seperate cabinet (probably 2x10) for a more managable weight and size.
