Double Bass Metal Endpin Anchor

For playing standing up on bass I had a rubber rock stop with a metal cup and for sitting I made a pin holder of wood with drilled holes at various points and used a D ring and an old guitar strap. These days I have a Xeros for cello which has a plastic holder. If I do not use the rubber endpin cover the sharp carbon fiber tip on my endpin would eventually poke through the plastic and even would if it was thin metal.

I played in an orchestra where we all had soft plywood planks with a big hole at one end for the stool leg and we just set our dull points into the other. Effective, and as low tech as possible. Personally, I find my Saddle Rider ball directly on the floor stays in place well enough as long as neither are too dusty.

I have looked for the Xeros one for cello with no luck. Plenty of the resin ones, but no metal. I used to have some, and I keep hoping I find one in an old cello bag somewhere, but no luck. I really want one!

We have em here in Japan. Amazon.co.jp

Also available in Aluminum, and if you don't like the design, there's a boring version too 見附精機工業 【エンドピンストッパー】 MITSUKE 丸型エンドピンストッパー 【名古屋店】

So I came back to see a reply to this thread, and noticed that the price on the stopper went up on Amazon Japan overnight.. I put that link because I thought it would be the easiest way to buy one, but if someone is interested, I'd say go to the manufacturer's website for it now. It seems like you can write to them in English about what you want. And they'll even engrave your name on it.

Maybe I should say that I have no affiliation whatsoever with this company, and apart from having put a couple of their endpins in my bass at a shop to try them, have never had any contact with them. A lot of classical players seem to like their products, though, and they're a legit company.
