Double Bass Method books

Are there any fundamental differences between them? Putting aside the Rabbath/Vance books, and I think the only change would be to the starting position, I don't see too much difference between Simandl, Bille, Bottesini, Nanny, Hrabe, Streicher etc. If anything, books other than Simandl appear to contain more melodic, smaller etudes, but to me, they all look to cover the same topics.
Is this the case?
