I saw Van Halen at the Staples Center in LA- 7th row
Pretty good show
Plusses:
* Michael played with lots of energy
* The guys looked like they were genuinely having fun
* Good set list- they played a good mix of old and new
* They were very generous to the fans, everyone signing autographs during the show and interacting wtih fans int he first few rows
Gripes:
* Sammy had a little trouble hitting the high notes, although he was having fun so we forgive him
* Michael's famous bass solo was kind of a letdown, just lots of running around and triple stops with lots of distortion that he let ring for like 10 seconds
* The bass in general was pretty quiet in the mix, couldn't hear it too well (could have been my seats)
I"m not a fanatic Van Halen fan but I did appreciate them giving their all and came away very happy that I saw them.
Somebody recorded the show and posted small portions of it on the web- now it's not posted on their site anymore, but I put a copy of one of their clips it at my web site Invalid Link Removed
Anyway, if you have a chance to see them, go for it- it was really fun.
