TL;DR I recently got my 2nd MK acoustic fretless bass, and this one is made in China, while my first is made in Korea. Anyone know if I should expect a difference in quality/longevity?
Details: I've been playing a made-in-Korea Michael Kelly dragonfly 4-string fretless acoustic. Using black nylon tape wound strings, love the tone, especially through a Phil Jones briefcase, but also direct.
However my band plays mostly in the key of B (Indian classical inspired jazz), and I've tried playing a few shows with my electric 5 string Ibanez, the low B adds a lot. But I miss the fretless tape wound sound.
So I discovered (and ordered) a 5-string Michael Kelly dragonfly, fretless acoustic, best of both worlds! However when the guitar arrived, I noticed it was made in China, unlike my other MK bass made in Korea but pretty much identical in every other respect (other than minor differences).
What gives? Did MK change their production country, or is it a luck of the draw? Any quality difference between these countries of manufacture?
