Mids switch on TAFM- can you hear a difference?

Just picked up a newer TAFM with Gate from a TB'er and am really liking it, but I can't hear any difference when the mids switch is engaged. Is the effect of that switch intended to be very subtle or is there something wrong with mine?! Maybe its just that I'm used to the very obvious tonal change caused by the Voice switch on the Oxide...

yeah it is on the subtle side and is way more noticeable on higher fuzz and shape settings... so you may or may not notice it depending on your settings.

actually... after reading this thread and talking to spencer 3leaf at the brooklyn stomp box exhibit, i'm thinking of making a smaller version of the TAFM with just 4 knobs - clean and fuzz volume, fuzz and shape. might be cool. yay, nay?

That does sound pretty interesting! I hardly ever played with the switches myself.

Sounds cool. Input gain would be an internal trim or hardwired?

Same question for the switches I guess? Internal dip switches or hardwired, and which position if so? Gate switch internally as well?

I am likely to stick with my regular TAFM anyway as it's awesome and I do use the controls. I can see it being easier to "learn" with less controls though, and lots of them are on the subtle side and could be left one way internally.

I guess it could be cool, I've only had mine since the spring so I've been concentrating on dialing in one setting and using it. So I have the mids switch on and the gain switch (turns gain on to the clean signal and places clean out of phase with fuzz) off, which is giving me a rich classic fuzz tone with lots of balls. I have not worked to much with the synthier tones since I have a Red Ripper too, but eventually I will explore them, so I am happy with the one with the switches.

if i go for this, i think i'd go for a redesign and do something similar yet slightly different than a regular TAFM, but with the same fuzz at the core. it would be a simpler/smaller/cheaper version basically.
