Mike Dirnt Pickguard

Hello fellow TBers,

It's my first post. Please go gentle on me. I hope this is the right forum.

I bought a squier Mike Dirnt bass. Love it! I bought it with round wounds and it sounded great. But with flats... pure heaven. And I would love to change the pickguard. I go on GC, TB and Reverb. Not much luck. I'm looking for a tort or pearloid white guard. I do more research and end up on WDmusic. "Ahhh... hear we go. Let me scroll and find the one... here it is... 'click'... Looks great. Check out... $84.00?!?!?!?!?!?!"

How in the world could a basic pickguard cost $84.00 plus shipping? :***:

Thoughts or a Dirnt pickguard you're looking to get out of?

I had WD (pickguards.com) make this one for me several years ago. It was around $45-50.

Hey @Kevnn4 how about a little info on your bass. Buy it new? What if anything did you have to do to it to make it playable (i.e. fretwork, adjustments etc)? I've been looking at these for awhile, can't bring myself to pull the trigger for fear I'll have to put a bunch more money into it to make it a player. Considering the selling price one hates to put too much more into it that can't be recovered in resale (should resale be required) if it doesn't work for me.

I bought the bass brand new. Right out of the box it played great. Minimal set up for me. I lowered the strings a bit (I like medium action). Punchy pick ups. Cuts through the mix wonderfully. NO dead spots at all. Only thing of possible concern is the weight. Mine is a touch on the heavy side. Maybe 10lbs. I honestly love this bass. Now, if only I could find a relatively low priced pickguard....

Message @LarryV. He's a regular on the Thunderbird club thread and does custom pick guards for those, might be able to make you one for your P. Dude does nice work and is reasonable.
