MIM Mustangs and 3/8" pots

Hi, I've just got myself one of those Vintera II Mustangs, and ordered new electronics (including CTS knobs) to update the cheap ones that came from factory. To my surprise they didn't fit because the holes in the control plate are smaller. I've seen a lot of people upgrading their Mustangs here, how are you guys solving this? I haven't been able to find aftermarket control plates with 3/8". Thanks!

If you are comfortable with the process, you can get a step drill bit:

... then drill it out to 3/8". These are made for cutting into metal, and it works very well.
I recently had to do it for a Reverend Sentinel. I'd definitely suggest taping the plate before you drill, so any metal coming off doesn't scratch the chrome.
