Updated my MIM PJ with the hottest pups Seymour Duncan (SPB-3 and SJB-3) has. I wanted to go after the Steve Harris model concept.
I used the same pots but cleaned them and double checked all wiring and improved the grounding to the bridge. I restrung with Harris flats (my other choice was DR Low Riders.
End results:
The good:
Wow! Super Hot, now I know what folks mean by the "Pbass sound", fat and thick. Never heard my bass thru my Hartke sound that powerful. Might be too much for most of what I do...LOL....
The bad:
I picked up a hum when I roll the tone up from none. Without the hum, it sounds great with the tone up too, crisp and articulate.
I tried shielding the control cavity with copper, only slight improvement, I'll play with the tone rolled off for now....
Any ideas? Should I shield the pup cavities also?
