MIM quality control?

So I hear that Made In Mexico fenders are hit or miss.

How often are they miss and if they are how bad can it be?

thinking about getting a fender deluxe active V in vintage white pao ferro (sooo sexyyyy)

From what I hear they are not too bad. I played a MIM 5 as a rental bass on my last out of town gig and I had to tighten up the neck screws a bit, but the neck was nice and stable - and the strings were lined up nicely with the pole pieces on the pups. I almost bought a MIM J5 as a backup, but got a Carvin instead - good deal on ebay. I've never really sat down and played a bunch of MIMs to know for sure - that's what you'd really have to do to know how "hit or miss" they are.

just got a MIM Jazz V today.....off eBay.....sight unseen.

It's really freaking nice.
Lowest action of all of my basses. I'm extremely surprised.

Better than the MIA Jazz V I once had.

I'd rather pay the extra $150 for a MIJ bass that I know isn't a gamble. Seriously, new MIMs are ridiculous ripoffs. </tangent>

trying before I buy unfortunately is not on option all the places I have near me have either a horrible selection or no selection at all.

so MF is the only place I can buy all my basses
