Mind reading ads

Yesterday I was out four-wheeling my truck in the hills of Eastern Washington. The thing is covered in mud. I haven't really either talked or written to anyone about it yet.

Today as I'm reading Talkbass, there's an ad on the side for a locking differential. Weird. It's like someone knew I was off-roading and put the ad up.

Here's the layman's (myself) explanation. You're into off-roading, so you've perused sites pertaining to said interest. The banner ads on TB read your cookies and adjusted it's ads accordingly to suit your interest. I just got a banner ad for "Cycle Gear" as I proceeded to post this. No big mystery.

Actually, I don't peruse any off-road sites. I only go off-roading every once in a great while and am not that much into it. As a hobby, it can get far too expensive for me.

I actually spend far more time mountain biking and perusing sites related to that activity. No banner ads for that. Or bacon and beer for that matter.
