Guys,

I'm in the market for a (very) small amp. Currently, my options are as above, tho there may be others out there. The criteria is small size and light weight whilst delivering good bottom end at very moderate powers. Money is not a consideration at this point.

It's **not** for use as a practice amp. This will be taken to acoustic jam nights / open mic sessions for me to use on bass (electro acoustic BG and/or bass ukulele) to accompany acoustic guitarists. It's not meant to compete in a bar-room blues band set up with a drummer, just acoustic jam nights and possible light acoustic gigs.

Suggestions, experiences, thoughts, etc, welcomed on the two mentioned, or other alternatives.

Try a Peavey VYPER VIP. I have a VIP 2 that has a 12" speaker w/40 watts. Light! Also can run guitar, acoustic, or bass with amp modeling and effects (limited.)

The Pignose doesn't seem easily available in the UK. The Ibanez looks good but comes in at 27Lbs. Far too heavy I'm affraid, compared to the Jones and Markbass. But thanks, anyway. Thanks for the Peavey suggestion but, again, it's not really for me. Modelling amps are not my thing.

The AER offerings might appea (their acoustic amps are superb and tiny) although they are expensive at the top end - I've never seen an amp for 3000 euros before!

I bought an AER Bass One second hand for EUR 700. Stunning amp.

Thanks on the AER. The Bass one is available new in UK at about £1000. That's about 1400 Euros I think!

They look very nice but the spec gives the weight as about 13 Kilo (approx 30Lbs?) which is unfortunately too heavy.

A Fender Rumble 100 should do the job. 100 watts, 12 inch speaker and only 22 lbs. 300 bucks out the door.

Yes, I'd considered the Rumble. Unfortunately, whilst the weight is only 22Lbs, the Double Four weighs only (approx) 9Lbs. With problematic medical issues I **simply must** reduce the weight of my gear. Now, whilst I don't know how the PJB and the Rumble compare musically, the Rumble weighs 2 1/2 times more than the PJB. Also, of course, 22Lbs isn't that heavy to most folk. But to me, it makes a big difference. That's why I'm having to discount the suggestions that folk kindly make.

The Fender Rumble 40 weighs only 18lbs (Plywood, Class D, Indonesia). This what normally a 15Watt 8" minicombo weighs.

I was going to suggest the Rumble as well until I read this.

You seem to have done your homework on all the other specs. The only thing left is what you like to hear. Tone-wise from the amp, that is.

For bmc ... This is an extract from my original post. The amp I want to buy will be: ""... for me to use on bass (electro acoustic BG and/or bass ukulele) ...". I also play upright so that might feature, too, if that's what you meant by "acoustic bass".

The Mark bass is just too mid forward sounding....

Another suggestion would be the Tc electronics 208, or something like that, but that too is too middy....

I didn´t try out the Phil Jones but I have an eye on it.
