Mixing multi and stomps

I have a Zoom B2 an G2 that I like for some things but not all (like distortions. So I want to combine the pedals, i'm inclined to put the B2 at the end of the effects chain since it will be mostly modulation/delay/reverb but I wonder if that traditional formula changes with the multi?

What if I want to add compression, in that case shouldn't the zoom be at the head of the chain?

What are you all doing with your multi and stomp setups?

BTW I use these for guitar and bass so any perspective on either is appreciated.

That is essentially what I am doing with the Zoom b2 at the end. My usual set up is:
[sfx] microThumpinator > >Boss Ge7B > [sfx] AY2 >[pre loop]
Rocktron TruLoop >loop send> Boss AW3>Lo|Fat OD>GGG BrassMaster> EHX BassBalls >loop return><
[post loop] Zoom B2

People put compressors all over the place in their signal chain even tho conventional wisdom sez at the front.

Right now I have a Bassballs after my M13 / parallel looper setup, before I bought my Alphabass I had an English Muff'n there.

I used to have a parallel loop that ran HOG>G2.1u>English Muff'n. That was a pretty badass setup there.

Seems like a common theme is to use a looper with the multifx. I've been playing around with using a bypass switch so that it's only on when using the effect. But it's a bit of a challenge. I think I'm confident that the zoom doesn't color the sound too much when all the settings are "off", but if I want to keep reverb and compression but lose the modulation I have to have another patch. Maybe I'll explore the looper/a-b options too.

I have some "blank" patches that have all modules off except for the room 'verb i like, "clean" patches and patches with effects in a sequence that allows me to get from a clean to effected sound and back in 1 stomp up or down.
The "bypass" is not totally transparent but it's not bad I use an inexpensive pedal for that

I use the loop pedal to easily bypass those pedals because I sometimes use combinations and then want to switch back to my original sound.
