Rest assured it does sound as good as it looks. Next year I will likely need to re-plane and re-fret it, but for now it’s going to get some funk reps with some 40s strung up and is more than playable.

And thanks for the pickup clarification again Geoff!

Good eye there scowboy. That seems somewhat similar to mine (in my profile pic). Same way way old EMG pickups. But the electronics in mine are not original. I asked the reverb seller to post a picture of the electronics cavity just so I can see it.

Geoff commented on my post of this bass over on FB. When I sent the seller Geoff's comments, he didn't believe them!! Geoff was really confused by that fact. But there you go, it is his bass and he can make up anything he wants to about it. I am pretty sure, most of us who shop and watch for these basses know what they are.

Hello, Bassstar member #10 here. I posted a while back (posts 139-142) with pictures of my BassStar neck, serial number 0057 with fine fibers. I finished the guitar a few years ago and thought I would post a picture. I sent the neck to Jerry Dorsch in Washington and he refurbished it to near-new condition, and I am very grateful for that. I kept the original Lane Poor single coil but rewired it with PEC potentiometers in a custom brass framework for grounding purposes, and a 0.039 microfarad Styroflex capacitor. I tested about a dozen and a half capacitors using alligator clips in the wiring, including ceramic discs (sound like crap), new and older PIO's (decent), polyester film, a military grade silver mica that sounded the best but was too big for the cavity, and even tropical fish (crap) and a Mullard mustard. There is a full pickguard shield but no cavity shielding, and there is no perceptible hum. It is strung with Pyramid flats and sounds amazing to my ears, but I am no professional. It is very heavy so I sling it on a very wide Levy's strap.

Keeping the dream alive here folks... Got a comment from Geoff over on FB on my neck thru Bassstar!! It is Solid Poplar wings, Padauk center and the model was a Bassstar-5 TB... Oh and the bridge is a Stars Guitars bridge.. Just a couple things I did not know.

Yeah, this was my old one that I sold to help buy my house and have talked about on this thread. Given how much I sold it to him for and how much he wants for it, he is reaching and praying. It really needs a neck re-plane, which he is counting on someone not checking for with the light gauge strings that I used on it.

This Must Be THE Place: In 1978 I had a bass made by Modulus. Birdseye/Mahogany/Birdseye, Seymour Duncan Jazz pickups, stacked potentiometers, fretless no lines. It came in a medium blue Anvil case. It and I did not jell, so I returned it. No pictures other than those in my head. Has anyone hereabouts seen it? Dean

I was waiting to go to my storage space so I could get some better photos before posting my bassstar here, but here it is.

I got this and some other music stuff when my uncle passed. I had to buy it all from his estranged wife, so unfortunately, I didn't get more. Anyhow, I don't know any of the history of it, but I wish I did. Looks like it was one of the early ESP conversions. (It has an ESP neckplate with a 02XXX serial) I haven't taken the neck off. It has slotted screws in it, and I'm afraid to tear them up trying to get them back to torque. It plays ok, but I rarely get it out - the neck is too heavy to use it on a strap.

Sweet bass!!! I also have a very early Bassstar and I put Hipshot Ultralights on it, it really helped the neck dive. It made the difference of playable vs. not playable.
