NO TRADES!!! Doing some thinning of the herd, can't decide what to keep, so letting TB decide.

For sale is a Modulus Quantum 5 string. The previous owner had removed the electronics and made it a passive one pickup bass. It sounded pretty good like that, I must admit, but I love Q5's for what they are, so I replaced that with Aguilar DCBs and an OBP-3 pre with push pull active/passive and mid frequency selector. I also replaced the bridge as there was some surface rust on the existing one.

Bass is in very good/excellent condition, has a mark by the neck bolts and a small ding above the front pickup.

- Alder body, spalted maple top
- 35" scale graphite neck with phenolic fingerboard, it's an '08 so it does have a truss rod/'relief adjustment system"
-19mm string spacing (stock is 17mm), 1.93' width at the nut (in between the stock 5 and 6 width)
- Aguilar DCB pickups (EMG 40 size) with Aguilar 18v OBP-3 preamp with push/pull active/passive and mid frequency selector
- Light for a Modulus at 9lbs, 15oz
- Hipshot ultralight tuners and aluminum bridge
- includes Modulus OHSC in excellent condition

Asking $2300 shipped to the lower 48. NO TRADES!!! I take PayPal and Zelle. I'm on the NW side of Chicago, local deal saves shipping costs. Any questions or want more pics, let me know.

Gorgeous! Going to a happy new owner. How are the DCBs in a Quantum? I've got Bart's in mine and soon to put the stock EMGs back in her, but never had the pleasure of playing one with Aggies.

Can you compare/contrast to Bart's and EMGs? If you wanna close the thread shoot me a PM!

Thanks, Fred!

Well, since you asked... I can’t really compare with Modulus Barts, as I have pretty limited experience with them. With EMG 40 DCs, I think the Aguilars are similar, in that they have clarity that I haven’t found with other Barts, but they’re a little more exaggerated in the low end and high end- not in a bad way though. I like EMGs, but think they can be kind of flat and boring, especially with a Modulus since it’s so balanced. The Aggies have a bit of a scoop, but not as extreme as like a Marcus Miller sound or something. I was very impressed with them actually- I’ve had Aguilar gear in the past (have an AG700 amp and 2 SL112 cabs at the moment), and I like them, but to me, they always have that “Aguilar sound”, the pickups and pre, not so much. That being said, EMG 40DCs and Aguilar DCB are both dual coil ceramic magnet pickups, so they have similar construction. I would definitely consider putting Aguilar pickups and electronics in a bass again, obviously depending on if it fit the bass.

In case you haven’t seen this, I think it’s pretty accurate (cheesy dialogue aside :D)

With the OBP-3 preamp though, a little goes a LONG way.
