Monitor XLR connection question

I have a Tascam FW1884. For output, its options are analog 1/4" jacks or digital ADAT or co-ax. I'm interested in getting some new monitors and am considering a pair of Adam P22as which only have xlr inputs. Would using a 1/4" to xlr adaptor be just fine? Or am I better off finding a monitor that can take 1/4" inputs (or possibly the JBL LSR432xPs that take an ADAT input -- but the tweeter sounds really plastic to me on those.....)

I'm looking to spend ~$1000 or so on this; I really like the sound of the Adams -- any advice?

Does your tascam use TRS (stereo) 1/4" balanced outputs?

If so, get a balanced TRS to XLR cable for the monitors. I used an adapter up until today when my nice new cables came (neutrik connectors and van damme cable). And while the sound isnt any different (obviously), its a bit louder and there is no background hiss :)
