Mooer LoFi Machine on bass

's a pretty cool alternative to the Bit. both are very similar. the LoFi Machine SAYS it bit crushes, but on mines it just makes white noise. hah. but they also built this one so the Bit knob does the sample rate settings whilst the Sample knob does the bit rate depth.

for a Sample Rate Reducer it works well.

Interesting to hear some of those tapping tones.

I got interested in bit crushers after seeing that video of the Red Panda producing clavinet tones. Glad to see that vid you posted.

Just got one the other week, I'd recommend it, especially considering the price compared to other new bit crushing pedals.

I've found it sounds better in "guitar" mode rather than "bass" mode, sounds like bass mode looses some mids and highs, doesn't cut through the mix when jamming with drums and guitar. In guitar mode, I still get plenty of lows and better definition.

interesting. on mines it seems to get a little thinner tone wise but with more gain boost in guitar and synth mode.

yeah. i want to pick up a Malekko Bit again, see how it sounds now that he said he fixed the tone/volume drop. i like the Mooer, it's a good cheap SRRer, but to me the best Crushy SR thing i've played is the Bug Crusher. so beautiful. and the Malekko got closest to that.

Agree on both the uselessness of the bit depth reduction and the mislabelling of the controls. Here's my mini review from elsewhere:

Lo Fi Machine

I like it. Not particularly versatile and not one you'll use very much, but it allows you to get a whatever blend you want between bass-guitary and electronickey. The knob labelled 'sample' (top right) seems to do nothing from 7-12, then from 12-5 it adds what I can only call modem sounds. Not really useful. The knob labelled 'bit' (big one) seems to do nothing between 7-12, but between 12-5 it introduces the bit-sampled sound. I think they've mislabelled the knobs, because at 5 this one has a beating effect against some notes on the G string, and the note where you get the beating effect varies when you turn it (the Bit knob). So I'm fairly sure this one is the sample rate. Most useful effects are probably between 1-4 o'clock. The video is fairly representative, except that you can blend much more towards the pure sound of your bass ... to 100% bass in fact.

it's not really a big deal to me. it's easy to keep track of. i WOULD rather have Sample Rate at the smaller, harder to bump and change settings knob. since the "crushing" is so **** it'a always going to stay turned all the way down. SRR SHOULD be finicky, it's better to have more range than less, but once it's where i want it i like it to stay there b

the "crushing" is not a bit crusher at all. it does no bit down grade of the signal like what ACTUAL bit crushers do, it just introduces more and more ugly *** white noise.

but that's fine with me. for me, on bass SRR > BC.
