We've just recruited a bass player for our new band and we're going to play some play club/pub gigs around the place.
Up until now we've been writing and recording demos using one of the Zoom DI boxes. We've pretty much exclusively used the Ampeg models. We're also trying to nail the thick full rumble sound of the bass you hear from Smashing Pumpkins. I believe D'Arcy also used an Ampeg SVT.
Those pieces are quite expensive, even 2nd-hand here in Australia, is there another more affordable unit (head or combo) that has the same kind of dynamic?
