More aggressive sounding P bass?

if you ever see an aria "laser"....give it a try. I think it's the sound you are after...with the stock pickups. ka-blawm. if you are stickin to your quiver, try a set of dmarzio split p's. they only sound good if your rig is good and an eq before the amp will help immensely...even the fishnchips dano!

for a quick, cheap cure.

Honestly if it were me and I was chasing that tone, I'd get a stingray. I've always though the stingray h was basically a more agressive sounding p-bass. I've never gotten that tone from a p-bass and been really happy with it. Just my two cents.

strings + amplifiers make all the difference. dead rounds or flats will sound pretty thumpy though most rigs. new strings and a cranked tube amp with some grindy treble and youve got the punk thing happening.

Most aggressive sounding setup I've ever heard/owned was SD Quarter Pounder wired direct to the output jack, prosteels, GK amp. I actually miss this and will be returning to it asap.
