Hi everyone,
First of all this is my first post here. I have been playing bass for over 3 years and lurking on TB for about as long. You have been an awesome source of information so far and I'd like to thank you for that! Here is my issue:
I bought the ampeg micro-vr stack few months ago and I love it. I am not gigging currently as I'm only playing with guitard and drummer friend. We play mostly rock, blues and some funk. Recently I have met a reggae band looking for a bass player and they might have gigs opportunities pretty soon. We had some rehearsals together and this is when I found myself really lacking low end (not just me, the entire band). They hear me that's not the problem, but I do need more reggae boom. I know this stack is not really designed for this but I wanted to ask you guys if there was something I can do to help my problem. I don't want to change everything since 1) I love the rig and 2) $$money$$, but I'm more than willing to upgrade.
It seems like the cab might be the limiting factor here. This is what I found in the instruction manual:
Frequency Response (-3dB): 58Hz-5kHz (for the SVT210AV)
Does that mean the cab isn't pushing anything under 58hz? Correct me if I'm wrong I'm far from being an expert.
So what can I do? Get another SVT210 to add volume in general? Use the 210 for rock and a new 15'' for reggae? Or is it the head? Would buying a pre-amp pedal and boosting the lows be enough? (a second 210 and/or a pre-amp are the option I'm considering the most)
Thanks again for your support and make sure to tell me if I'm missing a new user ritual!
