More questions - this time it's about a DI box and other things

Hi again.

Recently I learned about the use of DI boxes. I read that there are pasive ones out there that translate the unbalanced signal into a balanced one for instruments.

Question.

Keeping in mind that I may never play live/I might decide to pursue that eventually, is a DI box useful for recording into an interface?

I have a SSL2 + that has a hi-z input option, if that is relevant.

Would getting a passive DI box be not needed for home recording?

Also, going beyond DI boxes - what other things are good to have for recording at home, DI only. No cabs.

I want to use plugins and work in a DAW.

Thank you!
