I guess I'm the only person that found it pretty ****ing insensitive and ignorant. I won't mention names, but I can think of three TBers off the top of my head with immediate family members (children/siblings) who are mentally handicapped.

yeah well $#%$ happens.... life is too short to be serious all the time and laughter is the best medicine. i have epilepsy and whenever someone tells a joke about epileptics i could get offended but i choose not to and just have a laugh instead! I have two close relatives that a mentally handicapped and the reality of it is whilst there situation is not funny you cant help but laugh at some of the things they do or say - just like everyone else

I'm glad your particular situation is amusing to you. Being that close to it, however, I'd hope you'd be intelligent enough to understand that not everyone feels the same way and that those feelings aren't really out of the ordinary.
