Most efficient way to run my system

Running a pair of 18" subs with only 2 10" for satellites is useless and insane.
All you will get is a mush of undefined lows. Leave this to DJs.
One sub is more than enough trouble for a live band.
I'm surprised that the KW181 doesn't have built in crossovers.
That's how 2-1 / 2-2 systems usually work the best, send everything to the sub and let it sort things out.

I ususally only run 1 sub. on the rare occasion that I use 2, I run 4 k 10 tops...

in the KW181 manual, it says to run full range signal to tops set to ext sub, then run out to sub.. this is opposite of what I thought which is full range to sub, then 100hz and above sent to tops...

i guess that should have been a question... is there a difference if the signal goes to the sub first, then to tops.. or tops first, then to subs?
technically - assuming same xover components in tops/subs - it should make no difference.
One can have short cable from top to sub or vice versa..
Beyond that .. idk.

Here is what I do and I apologize if anybody else has already mentioned this. I use 2 x K10's for tops with the sub button activated. I use two powered EV bass subs (used to use a K181 but to heavy). Now I pan everything in my board except the tunes, bass guitar and kick drum to the left. I leave the kick and bass and tunes centered. Then the left goes to my tops and the right goes to the subs. Clean and simple and it doesn't time up an aus out. Oh I use a DL1608 mixer and used to do this on my previous 16.0.2 board as well.

Actually, inthe right hands it sounds really darned good ...

I have a pair of precision instruments I use to make it not so ... my ears

Not in my hands

It does - see below.

Sorry but that post is wrong on so many levels...

The differences between the K8, K10 and K12 are in how deep they will go - a function of cabinet size and porting and meaningless when used with one of the matching subs - and how they disperse. The 12" is a 75 degree box, the 10 is 90 and the 8 is 105 degrees. You put the appropriate box up for the venue. Hey all produce similar acoustic energy. The question is the area over which that energy is dispersed. The 12 is apparently louder and throws further as it's energy is more focused 75 vs 105 degrees ... The 10 or the 8 have better off axis response. Narrow, wide venue, they are the better pick - they also make great in-fills with the FOH speakers jacked up high..

LPF is built into the subs and the HPR is in the tops controlled by the Ext Sub switch. Wire to the subs, link to the tops is what I do. My understanding is that the pass through is full range

Unless you are configured for Aux Fed subs in which case, Aux 6 to the subs, daisy chain from 1 to the other. Main (L&R on your board) to the tops
