"Most expensive?" The sky is the limit, right? But... I'll "chime in" with this. At 14, in 1982, as a HUGE Rush fan... all I wanted was that bass that Geddy Lee played. My father went to a music store to get me "THAT BASS" for my birthday. I don't know what store it was. I was a straight A student, jock, popular, nerd, polite, pretty much every member of the cast of The Breakfast Club, all rolled into one (without "most" of the issues). The Salesman at the store talked my Dad out of the 4001, and I got a brand new, '82 Gibson Victory. It cost 900 bucks new back then. I was grateful, but BUMMED. Although, I cut my teeth on it, played a ton of back yards/clubs with it. I've since had 5 RIC's. Sold them all. Still have the Victory. I never play it anymore, and it's a nice bass. Sentimental, and all. Sounds great. Heavy. Beat up. Tons of memories in it.
But... had He gotten me the 4001 that I originally wanted... I may no longer own my 1st bass 40 years later.
I know that Y'all aren't reading this, but... "Thanks Dad, and Salesman Guy."
Oh... You too Geddy. I have a few Jazz Basses now.
Peace,
Marc
