Most inconvenient

You can't sit and play?
I certainly can't go and meet potential band mates or go to rehearsals. I can't sit normally or even get into my man cave yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I have the facility to play in my head, though, although that's harder work than pain currently permits.

Maybe that's a good jumping off point: can others listen to music and mentally play along? I don't always get it right, but where I get it wrong is generally similar to getting it wrong even when I have a bass in hand. I have no hope of doing it for guitar much beyond basic chords like C, G, Am. I can't verbalise it without visualizing my imaginary fretboard and working out where my imaginary fingers are and counting "frets". It does sort of freak me out. Complex or clever lines: not a hope, which again is true with a bass in my hands.

If you lived in a part of the world with medical care you can go to a medical professional who will put your leg in a cast and provide mobility aids to assist you with getting around in the interim. As such, be on the lookout for orcs. They are opportunistic and may take advantage of you in you immobile state. :)
Really though, I hope the healing goes well and the band opportunity resurfaces later.

Give it a few weeks. You’ll get much better on the crutches, learn to drive with the left foot, and be able to do more stuff on your own.

Ask for help. I joined up with a band whilst in a right lower leg cast and on crutches. The deal was, you guys carry my stuff, I sit on a stool. Worked great. Nothing like watching a couple guitar players carry a 2-15 up and down stairs.

Meanwhile, they can come to you. You can listen, learn, chart, and start getting it figured out.

I milked the gear carrying thing out.

I do!

I have been provided with crutches. There was already a walker here for when my aged mother visits.

It seems that for that type of breaks I have, splinting is initially preferred as it allows better for post injury swelling. Next week they might conceivably cast me after they've double-checked alignment and healing

Thanks!

I can relate. I was run over in a crosswalk by a negligent motorist back in 10/2024. Missed all the the lucrative St. Patrick's dough of 2025 with the band.
Had to recover from the initial injury and then, recover from the ACL replacement surgery. A total of about 4 months of crutches and then PT. Now, both knees tell me when it's gonna rain.
