most obnoxious noise?

I find certain metal things scraping againt other hard objects really annoying and hurt my ears (like a metal dustpan against cement) but a lot of my friends don't understand why... also scratching those little "holographic" or whatever material that changes what you see when you tilt it different dirrections... that makes my head want to explode but a lot of my friends think its a fun noise so...

When I was in grad school, I shared a lunchroom with a large group of Chinese students. In their culture, slurping and smacking loudly while eating is not considered rude. About 8-10 would sit and eat lunch together every day. You could hear it all the way down the hall. :atoz:

This thread reminded me of a juvenile prank that my friends and I pulled one day when I was a senior in high school. We lived in dorms at this school, and there were classrooms in another wing of the building. In my dorm room I had 2 big bass amps -- a Peavey Mark IV with a 2x15 cab, and an old Sunn Model T with a 6x10 cab. Somebody showed up with a cheap microphone with a 1/4 inch plug, so we connected the 2 amps and plugged in the mic, cranked the amps to "11", and then *flushed the toilet* with the mic a few inches away. :D :rollno:

:hiding:

We must have gotten about 125 decibels worth of toilet flush out of those amps!

That night everybody was talking about the weird mystery noise they heard during Physics class. We kept the truth to ourselves (because it was pretty easy to get kicked out of that school), but we had some good laughs over it in private. :p

Someone just learning to play the clarinet. Squeak!

Someone just learning to play the violin. Screech!

Whatever they pay beginning band/orchestra teachers in public school, it ain't enough. That's just pure auditory hell right there.

The screaming toddlers one is good too.
