I want to replace the "front J PU in my Reverend Rumblefish 5L with a P sounding PU.
I am really into the P sound nowaydays and I don't want to mess up a rare bass like this.

The front PU being in a rather P spot, I think this should work well.
Can anyone recommend the "right" PU?

Try out or look for audio of the Dimarzio Model J pickups. I almost installed them in a Squier because I heard they were hotter and had more of a precision based mid punch than other jazz bass pickups. There is a youtube video somewhere of a guy playing an American Fender Jazz comparing these, the stock Fender pickups and pickups from Lace I believe.
