Chuck Sher publishes my book, WALKING BASSICS:The Fundamentals of Jazz Bass Playing.
Is streaming on YouTube now, great doc with a number of great bassists in the various ensembles over the years. The only couple that get a lot of talking head time are Bob Arkin and Ed Schuller and it’s great to hear from them. Engaging and well worth watching.

Lovano played in Columbia a few days back, I wished I had printed out a copy of a drawing my late wife did when we heard him at RYLE'S with Motian's quintet ( Billy Drewes, Lovano, Bill Frisell, Ed Schuller) of Paul's kit..

Just finished watching it. What a great movie. I can't say I've heard a lot of his solo stuff (got 2 or 3 of the ECMs) but geez, the guy played with Coleman Hawkins, Monk, Bill Evans, Charles Lloyd, Keith Jarrett, Carla Bley...like he says in one scene, he was in the right place(s) at the right time.

It was $1.99 on Amazon to rent, so I cheated and watched it on YouTube. I always wonder about recent films showing up for free on YouTube, are they being bootlegged or what?
