Motorcycles

Does anyone else have a serious case of MAS (motorcycle aquisition syndrome)? With the nice weather we've been having here in Ohio, and the gas prices thru the roof, I've got it bad for a red Ducati 748! That bike is dead sexy!
Anyone else got the MAS?
I havne't had MAS for 10 years. And I don't see it coming on again any time soon. If I were shopping today I'd be looking for good reliable practical transportation in my motorcycle. Definitely not a Duc 748. I'm thinking Kawasaki ZR-7S personally.

Remember to get protectice gear aquisition syndrome also.

Thanks...it's a '99 900 SS....Remus Titanium pipes, performance chip, K&N air filter, and I took off the top of the airbox and all the California emmisions crap...opened it up really well. Also has a carbon racing clutch and I opened up and vented the clutch cover...rings out like sleighbells now.

I used to have a '73 Triumph Tiger (1 carb, Bonnie was 2)
and this Kawa below in the 1000 LTD version vintage '77.
Sweet bike with great growl, powerful mids and screaming highs.

With gas prices heading for 2.50, a Moped to go to the store
is getting pretty sexy. Nothing like giving big oil my little
finger. I plan on using less this summer. A lot less.

Along with my wife, kids, family, freinds, bass...this is one of the top ten things in life for me.
Hey, thats a nice Duc ya got there Rumzini! Is that a 900 SS? Out of curiosity, what needs fixed on yours? Also, I've heard the SS's are less tempermental and less expensive for maintenance than the Superbikes... had something to do with 2 valves versus 4 per cylinder... er something. :hmm:

IF the wife lets me get a bike, I'm sure I'd be forced into protective gear, even if I didn't want to wear it. Besides, I'd have to wear a helmet at 1st because I only have my temps, and I personally think leathers just look damn cool!

Yeah it's a '99 900 SS...first year change over from the older body style...designed by Frenchman Pierre Terblanche...same man who gave us the new 999. The only problem that I have had with it that was not inflicted by me directly is it's current problem. There is some sort of fuel problem...when I go up n the gears accelerating...at about 4000 to 5000 RPM it likes to bawg out forcing me to blip the throttle to get it back on track.

And yes...2 valves are less expensive to maintain than 4. Ducati is also famous for the mechanical valve timing instead of springs. Soo...they have to be checked more often than say a Honda or really anything else.

I havn't ridden it much in the last 2 years...but there was a time that I lived and breathed with her. For anyone interested in my lil ride down south to meet my bud and ride across a few states in a week go to

http://www.wegs.net/theroad/1_east/index.html

scroll down to Thursday October 26th and I'm in there. (Don Rumsey from Michigan)

Otherwise for epic motorcycle riding stories go to the main site

www.wegs.net and go to "The Road" My buddy Warren rode for over a year on his motorcycle during his "Mid-life Chrisis tour of the Americas"

Anyways...I ramble...just lots of good memories on the bike. It opened up a whole new world for me...just like the bass.

HA HA HA HA that's a relative statement.... Like saying an Excursion gets better gas mileage than a Hummer. Ducati valve adjustment intervals and expense are hellacious!!!!

Sounds like your quite the Ducati fan, Philbiker! Of course, I can lust for a Duc, but my budget is more along the lines of a Honda CBR 600 F2 or a Ninja ZX6R. :hmm:
Now if I can just keep myself away from the Ducatis on Ebay!

You know, I'd love to have a bike, but its not very handy when you got to take equipment with you...

and I cant really afford to have more than one vehicle, so, I'll just watch for now...
Someday I'll have a custom chopper though, hopefully with some kind of Bass-Holder Thingy-ma-bob.
