Move Over, Rebecca Black

The link I posted is actually quite pleasant compared to the teeny pop. I was singing along!

Where ya been lately? Haven't seen you around in OT for a bit.

Well, I've got a new job at a farm that wears me out, and I've also been busy with Nidingr. Our new album (Greatest Of Deceivers) was released today, so we had a releaseparty/gig yesterday (a little clip here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ceNXkg6ta8) that we have been rehearsing for the last two-three months. The interwebz just haven't been a priority for a while.

Some thoughts...
So many things are so wrong with this whole video. Actually, everything.
I love how she's making all this food by herself and then has a bunch of friends over (and token black guy hype man) and there's no parent around. And her bed is made. She's apparently a 30 year old in a 10 year old body.
The calendar thing, the chronology, everything is the same. You think these people would learn.
And the turkey leg microphone looks a little phallic, no?
Just a terrible experience, aurally and visually.
*shivers* eek.

Actually, I think it's implying something about a child's innate desire to affirm themselves as adult, or having adult qualities. Like being able to do stuff without adult supervision, being productive, that sort of thing. Of course, the whole thing is idealized, but you could see the same theme in the rebecca black video. You know, like playing dressup, except it's in a music video with that creepy dude in a turkey suit. Either that or they didn't want to pay grown ups to pretend to do grown-up stuff.

Also, on the creepy guy, while he IS certainly creepy, I don't think he'd end up on a sex-offender list - he's probably just doing it to save some cash, apparently he makes 5 grand for these videos, that money has to be spent responsibly in order to turn a decent profit, so I suppose he cameos in them just as a means of cutting costs - if he does everything himself, and assuming the whole thing can be done in a week ( or perhaps a month, while doing a couple of other song/videos at a time), that would be 5 grand a week, or maybe 20 grand a month - that is not-counting the expenses of hardware/software - that's a pretty good killing. I might not mind seeming a bit creepy for that kind of dosh.
