Moves like jagger

Guys help me out here...

One of our band wants me to play the bass track for Maroon 5's moves like jagger "like on the studio version". I'm telling him there is no bass guitar on the studio version, just some bass synth and a heavy kick drum. Heres a link if you happen to be living under a rock and never heard it (LOL)

Solution as I see it is to do the live version, it has a definate bass line, and maybe modify it slightly, lots of great bass covers online to draw on.

Tell me, am I missing it?? If so help me hear this bass line. :o

We play this song with my current band. The bass line is very simple. It is pretty much just bouncing on the B and E. Probably one of the easiest songs we do. :hyper:

^This. We do it, too. We made it more interesting by having me do the whistle part on the intro/outro in the upper register of the bass. An octave pedal might help, too.

Thanks I'm using the live version as a starting point, since theres no bass line I can hear on the studio version.

I've also thrown in the whistle part during the chorus on the bass too, and some walking lines between the two notes.

Its not a hard song, but since we do songs exactly per the recorded version (typically anyway) its caused some differences of opinion especially when someone keeps wanting me to do it per the studio version. :eyebrow:

The certainly is a bass line, that is what the synth is playing... the low part playing bass notes ;)

Many times you may be called upon to play modern pop dance tunes. Often, there is synth bass. We must, as bass guitar players, find a way to approximate the essence of the tune and deliver a danceable rendition. As someone suggested a octave pedal would work quite well in this case.
