What are you guys using to loop mp3 tracks? I'm looking for a good player for Windows that can loop sections of a song that I select.

MP3 Player that can loop sections of songs

I think Song Surgeon can do that, I have a copy, haven't really learned it yet though.
The most popular ones for Windows here on TB seem to be ASD, Transcribe!, and Audacity. There are lots of others. For Apple products, Anytune seems popular. I believe all of them loop, slow down without having to change pitch, and change pitch by cents, semi-tones, and octaves. I believe they all offer eq. Some offer guesses on pitches and chords, but your ear is always your best friend. What makes one software better than another is probably ease of use, price (including free), and familiarity. Check them all out to see which one fits you best. Having a good set of headphones is important, and most TBers seem to agree that raising the playback by an octave is even more effective than eq. Some of this depends on the genre. There's also something to be said for the minimalist approach in order to develop your ear. In fact, even the use of such software is subject to debate. Both software and earphones are subjects of other threads here on TB.
I like Transcribe! because of its measure markers and automatic beat markers (as determined by the user defined beats per measure). If you're just trying to determine the specific notes in a riff, any of the programs will get you there. Pick some combination of easy and free. If you're trying to analyze the rhythm, knowing where each beat starts and stops is important. I often find rhythm to be more challenging to notate than pitch.

Laughing as I write this. I'm so new at this stuff. I was just looking for a simple way to loop a section of a song track so I can take my time and learn it. I'm discovering not only can I do this, but some software will allow me to slow down the track also.

This reminds me of the old A B loop the Sega CD did for audio CDs or CD+Gs. It's a real shame so few mp3 and CD players do that. It was so nice for figuring out a song ... in 1995.
If you want a stand-alone device, Tascam has been making products for years. I bought a CD-BT1 years ago, and then the MP-BT1 using CDs and MP3s respectively. They now have a guitar/bass trainer that can be used for bass, but I don't remember the product name. These products provide looping and slow down with pitch adjustment and other good features. You can plug your bass in and listen to music and your play along through headphones.
Went to my local guitar center and they didn't have one, but could order it. I did see a video review online. I think I'm going to try "Song Surgeon" first.

I've been using Amazing Slow-Downer for many years (decades now?). Still does the trick for me.
Can create loops, change loop parameters on the fly, adjust speed/pitch. Windows, IOS, Android.

I use ASD on my Android phone. It can pull songs from your Spotify account which is fantastic. Best tenner I spent in a long time. It's a shame that the desktop version is so much more expensive. While the android app gives me exactly the functionality I need, working from my MacBook is sometimes more convenient... but definitely not 50 additional bucks convenient.
