Details

I'm thinning the herd!

Model: MTD 535-35
Year: 2004
Body: Primavera
Finish: Epoxy base coat and catalyzed urethane topcoat
Preamp: Bartolini 3-Band
Pickups: Bartolini Soapbar
Neck: Maple
Fingerboard: Ebony
Hardware: Black
Case: Will ship with soft gig bag (non-MTD)

Standard 35" scale and 19mm spacing at the bridge. The bass has some decent wear but nothing that effects the play-ability.....it's only cosmetic. The headstock has the greatest amount of wear (see the pic). Bass is setup with low action and very easy to play.

My good friend, long time TalkBass member and funky-butt bass player, Basehead, was kind enough to help me create this ad. Basehead made the sound clips, took the photos and provided his thoughts about the bass above and below. (Thanks Basehead!)

Basehead's Notes: Great example of a MTD bass - this bass is alive!
  • Notes are focused and have great fundamental. The Ebony board gives a very modern top end - lots of snap.
  • Soundwise, It's got a lot...how you choose to EQ it makes this a great versatile sounding bass.
  • Definitely very modern sounding - clear, unforgiving, yet deep depending on how it's played.
  • Lot's of fun to play. B string is tight and big, without sounding muddy.
  • I prefer the rounds to the flats simply because there's more to work with sound wise. I can't stop slapping this thing (and I do it poorly!).
  • Someone looking for an old school sound will love flats on this! With the rounds on, it begs to be slapped.
  • The higher register notes are very nice sounding.
PRICE: Originally asking $2900. Price Drop to $2575 includes US shipping (insured). My preferred method of payments are Venmo (venmo.com), cash or check

Sample 1 w/ Sadowsky Black Label Flats (.45 - .130) -

Sample 2 w/ Fodera Nickel Rounds (.45 - .130) -

UPDATE: I just got an NS Design CR5M Upright so I'm not looking for any trades... again.

I know I have this bass listed "For Sale", but a couple trades that I would be very interested in include an NS Design CR4M or CR5M Upright, or any sort of fretted Rob Allen bass. (I realize the fretted Rob Allen Bass is practically a mythical creature!)

Thanks,
Mark

If you're ever down this way, I have a 1920-1930 czech juzek I'll give ya...

Well that is certainly a very kind offer!

I just got a NS Design CR5M Upright so I'm not looking for any trades... again. It's the first time I trying to play an upright style instrument. It has an absolutely awesome sound!

Once you get used to playing that, you'll get the urge for a bigger acoustic sound. It's addictive! You've been warned! Lol. Enjoy it and GLWTS

How about a direct shot of the damage on the headstock, say, more to the right and up?

Thanks for your interest and sorry for the delay (I was out of town). Below are three shots of the area you wanted to see. Please let me know if you would like any other pictures.

I think that's a pretty amazing price for an excellent MTD! If the bass doesn't sell at this low, low price I'll probably keep it and try stringing it E to C.

This thread has a lot of views, but not much activity! Anybody care to make me an offer? (Unfortunately, I'm not looking to trade.)

Yes, I am selling both this MTD 535 and the Roscoe Century Standard Plus 6. The very reasonable asking prices are listed.

Are you interested in buying them both at the same time? If so, I'm sure we could work out a bulk buying discount!
