MTD Kingston Super 5 grind/ growl

So I am interested in getting that grind sound. Not sure how else to describe it. But it’s a deep growl that I’ve only heard a few times. On Scotts bass lessons there is a video of him playing several basses. When he played the MTD Super 5, I heard that tone I have been looking for. My question is what kind of preamp and or pickups will get that growl/grind.

In this case, pickup location is arguably a bigger factor than the pickups.
