MTD KZ6

Ok, I am a sound guy in the church setting (600-1350) size, more "full gospel" type churches, for 15 years. My daughter, 17, is a really good bass player and I learned sometime back that the more I know about instruments and amps the better I can do my job. I counseled my daughter to learn the bass, that it was the quickest way into the youth band. Little did I know she really has a gift for the bass guitar. She is very musical and sings harmonies and even leads worship while playing bass, and now keys or acoustic guitar. All that leads me to this. She, Kari, was taking bass lessons at the local guitar shop, when she tried out a MTD KZ^ and loved it. I found one on craigslist and she played it for about a year when the preamp went out. I called a number I found on line for MTD Bass and low and behold, Michael Tobias answered the phone. I have come to learn that he usually does. He gave me the info on where to order his design Bartolini pickups and preamp. He recommended I have them wired 9 volt. That worked out really good and she played the mess out of the guitar for a couple of years. Then I found a Steve Bailey Fender Jazz 6 and it arrived here this week. When she played the Fender she said it sounded better than the MTD. She loves her MTD so I thought I would see what it would take to change the MTD to 18 volt. The Fender is 18 volt and does sound amazing. The change to 18 volt was an easy fix, after the dremel work, and has taken the MTD to a whole new level. Anyway I hope all you musicians don't mind a sound guy creepin, trying to learn and do his job better. :hmm:

There is nothing wrong with learning about a perticular instrument as a sound guy. It just makes ur job easier when ur behind the mixer doing sounds checks everytime before a service to get the best sound possible. I love this story keep doing what ur doing guys this is all for the glory of God!!. Please if you have any vids on tube we would love to see you on the colsole and her on bass. By the way both basses kill the steve bailey will give you that killer jazz bass tone. while the MTD covers all the spectrums of tones.
