Muddying the water...

yeah, but the thing about O'Rourke (you can't spell your fave author's name??) was that even though he did the 'Republican Party Reptile' persona thing, it was pretty obvious he was ambivalent at best about Republican values... he was satirizing the changes in thought that the boomer generation underwent between the late 60's & early 80's... the transformation from hippy to yuppie and all that...

he's acknowledging that we get more right wing and less idealistic as we get older but it's not as if he's embracing that... it's more like he's faintly disgusted & embarrassed by it

wheras your stuff sounds erm... rather less ambivalent and certainly less amusing
